Leading Irish Players: CC-SIM Tony Doyle

Tony Doyle, aka Antoin O Duill (the Irish form of his name, under which he appears in the ICCF rating list at 2533), was the first Irish player to achieve the ICCF IM title. He has since been awarded the CC-SIM title which ICCF introduced in 1999.

Some years ago, Tony (who was Irish OTB Champion in 1975 and played in the 1976 FIDE Olympiad at Haifa) won a World Championship Semifinal. Until the mid-1990s he had never lost a correspondence game. However, he has now stopped playing, after finishing with a respectably high placing in his Three-Quarter Final. The computer era would not suit him.
