Ladies Minor Division 1B Final
Clann na nGael 5-7 Michael Glaveys 3-4
The curtain finally game down on the Ladies season on Saturday last when the Minor girls had a good win over Michael Glaveys. Clann started off slowly, but soon had three points on the board from Gillian Egan, Michelle Harney-Nolan and Michelle Dunning. Michael Glaveys hit back with 2 points before Niamh O’Brien struck a brilliant individual goal. The Michael Glaveys goalkeeper was proving difficult to beat but Niamh soon added her second goal. Gillian Egan scored Clann’s other first half goal with a neat finish. Clann lead 3-4 to 1-2 at half-time.
Niamh O’Brien dived to deflect a
Michelle Harney-Nolan pass to the net before she scored another goal off the
underside off the crossbar. Clann also had points in the second half from Blana
Gately and Michelle Harney-Nolan. Glaveys never stopped trying to play football
and to their credit they pulled back two late goals. Clann had some great
performances from Caroline O’Neill in goal, the ever reliable Rosa Shine at
full back, Captain Clodagh Rock and up front Rebecca Naughton, Gillian Egan and
Niamh O’Brien who scored her twelfth goal in three matches.
