ANNALEE ATHLETIC CLUB
The first leg of the County Cavan Winter league took place at Breffni Park, Cavan in bright sunshine. Over 70 Annalee AC athletes took part and we had a very successful meet. The Lady Masters started off the event and the Annalee ladies took first place in the Team event. Unfortunately we had no Masters team in the mens event. Eugene O'Reilly finished strongly for 5th spot in the Senior Men's event. The U10 Girls ran extremely well taking 7 of the top 10 places with Aisling Brady leading them home in 2nd place. Her sister Aine was close behind in 4th. The U10 Boys finished well despite early falls for some of the boys and there were 5 Annalee athlete in the top twelve with one of our runners guesting on the day. Caoimhin O'Reilly took 2nd place and Donal Monaghan 4th. The U12 Girls event was won by Eadaoin O'Reilly with a whole host of athletes in the top 20. Many of these girls will still be eligible to run in this age group next year. The track was tight given the large numbers in the younger age groups and there were quite a few falls. The U12 boys also did well. Padraig Moore finished 4th and Darren Watters close behind in 5th place. Cian O'Reilly led the U14 boys home with a dominant run. The remaining boys finished well with Francis Moore taking 3rd, Francis McConnell in 5th and Damien McKiernan in 8th. Grace Monaghan ran well to get 7th in a competitive U14 girls. Our 3 athletes in the U16 Girls, Emma McDonald, Sinead Moore and Claire Monaghan also ran well. Aodhagan O'Reilly finished 2nd in the U16 Boys and the other Annalee Athletes finished 3rd, 4th and 8th to give another top team placing. Fionan O'Reilly had a great race but just got caught for the second spot in his race.
