Star of the Sea and Navan AC Results

The Navan AC Track & Field meet was held on Sunday 18th September in ideal weather. A large crowd of athletes from all over the Leinster, Midlands and Ulster regions turned up. The athletes from Annalee performed very well in high quality fields. Aine Brady ran brilliantly to finish 2nd in the U9 60m and Clodagh O'Reilly did well to make the finals. Orla Murphy finished well in the U10s but just missed out on a spot in the finals. Aoife Murphy also just missed out in a very competitive age group. Aine, Orla and Aoife joined with Eadaoin O'Reilly in the U12 4x100m relay and ran extremely well with super baton changes to finish 2nd overall out of a total of 7 teams. Evelyn O'Reilly was 4th in the shot putt. Eadaoin easily won the U12 girls race and Fionan O'Reilly had an outstanding win in the 1500m where he led from the start. Aodhagan O'Reilly had a strong run in the 800m and Cian O'Reilly ran well, despite an arm injury, to finish 3rd. Aodahgan Watters made the finals in the U9 boys and Darren Watters was 2nd in the long jump. Aidan Watters won the Masters 100m.

The crosscountry organisers at Star of the Sea set a very tough and demanding course in Co Meath on Sunday 25th September. Many clubs attended the meet and the rain just about stayed away. Conditions were agricultural underfoot and the course included long hill climbs. In the U9 500m race, Clodagh O'Reilly came 2nd and Aodhagan Watters finished 6th. Adrian Moore and Cormac Boyle made up the rest of the team which won 3rd place in the Boys U9 event. Ciaran Schutten was 8th in the boys U10 and Orla Murphy was 12th in the girl's race. Yvette Schutten, Emily Brady and Aoife Murphy finished 9th, 10th and 13th to take 3rd place for the Annalee team in the U11 Girls 800m. Francis Moore and Darren Watters finished 7th and 11th in their U12 race and were unlucky not to have a 3rd team member on the day as they would have easily been in medal contention. Eadaoin O'Reilly continued her excellent form easily winning the Girls 1000m. Cian O'Reilly came 3rd in the 1500m and Aodhagan O'Reilly had an 8th place finish in a very tough 4000m race.
