Mountaineering Council of Ireland
This is the web site of the main organization in Ireland representing hillwalkers
 Kerry Mountain Rescue
A very well organized group providing a vital service in the Kerry area. A quick look at their history of callouts gives a good idea of the service that they provide.
Simon Stewart's Hillwalking Website
A nice web site with plenty of info. There is an interesting section on this web site about various 'challenge' walks that take place throughout Ireland
 Official Killarney National Park Website
Not directly related to hillwalking but this park covers some very nice hill walking areas in Kerry.
Mountain Views
Another web site run by Simon Stewart. This one is really excellent with loads of info about all the peaks in Ireland over 500 metres. Well worth a visit.
 Waymarked Ways of Ireland
This web site was set up by the Irish Sports Council to promote the use of  'Waymarked Ways' in Ireland. Examples are the 'Kerry Way', 'Ballyhoura Way', 'Blackwater Way', etc. While some are not suitable for long distance walking as they are not loop walks and there is a lack of amenities and accommodation, they can be used for some interesting day walks especially if you are using 2 cars.
 
  


Training Courses.
In Ireland, the standard for obtaining various navigation and leadership skills for hill walkers is set by the BOS - The Irish Mountain Skills board. Various levels such as First Aid, MS1 - 'Mountain Skills 1', MS2 - 'Mountain Skills 2' and the ML - 'Mountain Leader' award are run by some of the organizations below...
