Farran Woods is about 12 kms West of Ballincollig and about 20 kms West of  Cork City	Farran Woods is about 4 kms North of Farran and about 5 kms South-East from Coachford.

Directions....From the city, use the South Link road and the Ballincollig by-pass and head West towards Macroom / Killarney. Just as the Ballincollig by-pass finishes and you pass the EMC plant, you will reach Ovens (There is nothing here other than a bridge and a bar called Desmonds. Keep going West. After about 1.5 kms on a straight stretch of road, you will come across a junction with a public bar on each side of the road. Take a right here. You need to stay on this road (which passes Lee Valley Golf club) and after about 7 kms, you will see the entrance to the wood on your right.
There are alternative routes.....
1. Carry on West from the juction with the pubs. Look out for the turn off left for Kilcrea Abbey and take the next right. Go into the small village, proceed up the hill and take the right at the T-junction.
2. An alternative route is to go to Coachford. Take the main road South and as you cross the long bridge over the river Lee, take the first left. The wood is about 2 kms up the road.
