Gurteen Wood is about 28 kms (15 miles) North-North-East of  Cork City and is just 5 kms West of Fermoy.	Gurteen Wood is 2 kms to the South-East of Ballyhooly.

Directions....From Cork, take the N8 as far as Watergrasshill and turn off. Don't take the motorway!! Then take the old Dublin road and go into Rathcormack.  At the far end of the village (NE side), take the left hand turn off for Ballyhooly (It's the last turn left before you leave the village). You will climb slowly uphill for about 5 kms until you reach the highest point and there is a fine view to the North. Continue down the other side for about another 5 kms. You are looking for a turn off right here. Look for Red & White direction markers on the day. If you miss the turn-off, you will come to a junction where 5 roads intersect and you'll have to double back.
