In the event of a coastal emergency, dial 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard.

Emergency at sea, contact the Coast Guard on marine VHF channel 16 or via D.S.C. channel 70.

The Bonmahon Unit of the Irish Coast Guard is based just outside the village of Bonmahon, Co Waterford.  The unit covers a wide search area stretching from Annestown to the east all the way along to Clonea to the west.  This area contains some of the highest cliffs in the county; the Copper Coast Geopark; various sandy coves; and includes one of the county's two blue flag beaches. Since early 2007, the Bonmahon Unit has had full cliff rescue status enabling us to respond to all emergencies in our area.  The team comprises of the Area Officer, Deputy Area Officer plus sixteen volunteer members all of whom are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year as part of the 112/999 emergency services.  In October 2008, the unit received the Marine Ministerial Letter of Appreciation for Meritorious Service from Minister of State for Transport, Noel Ahern TD, for our efforts in the Pere Charles / Honeydew II incidents of January and February 2007.
