History of Raheny Shamrock A.C.
In 1958 Paddy Boland started Raheny Shamrock Athletic club. Since
then we have won team and individual national championships. The club has had two
Olympians. The Hooper brothers Pat and Dick who represented Ireland in the 1980 Olympic
marathon, becoming the first brothers to compete in the Olympics at the same event in the

The Raheny 5 Mile road race.
The Raheny 5 mile was started in 1985 by Pat Hooper. Ever since
it has become one of the biggest road races in Ireland. Competers do not just come from
Raheny and Dublin but from all of Ireland (North and South), Wales, Scotland and England
making it an international event. Click here for more

In 1996 Larry Fox, Dick Hooper and Aidan Giblin set up Raheny
Shamrock A.C Golfing society. Click here
