Christmas Cards Project 2002

Third class are taking part in a world-wide Christmas card project.

This involves a group of schools world wide sending Christmas cards to all of the other schools in their group.

In third class there are nine other schools in our group. the schools are listed below in a table.

'What the project Involves'

It is compulsory that each school in the group sends at least one card to each of the schools in the group. they also must send an email when they post their cards and also every time they receive cards from any of the schools in the group.

Therefore, the students in third class that were not familiar with emailing will learn how to compose, send and reply to an email. They really enjoy this lesson!

In doing this, we learn from each of the other schools what they are doing as preparation for Christmas and the holidays: Eg; if they are part-taking in any events, such as concerts, breakup parties etc. It is also interesting to hear of the warmer weather conditions they are experiencing in Australia and New Zealand especially. In Third class in Caragh, we have hand made our cards during art class and we are including little gifts from Kildare to give the other schools in our group a little knowledge about where we come from.

All Christmas cards were posted off to all schools in our group on Dec. 4th .

We are looking forward to receiving the cards from the rest of the group.

Carebear week Oct14th -22nd 2002

Below you can see our class photo taken in October of this year for "Rehab Care bear Campaign"

We sold carebears throughout the school for €2 each. The proceeds went to Rehab Ireland.

We collected €224.00 from all classes.

Third Class So Far..... By the pupils.

There are 36 pupils in 3rd class this year. There are 17 boys and 19 girls.

Five new pupils joined our class in September of this year.

Halloween!

this is the night when witches fly,

On their whizzing broomsticks through the wintery sky,

Steering up the pathway where the stars are strewn,

They stretch skinny fingers to the waking moon.

This is the night when old wives tell strange and creepy stories,

tales of charm and spell,

peering at the pictures flaming in the fire,

they wait for whispers from a ghostly choir.

**********

This is the night when angels go in and out of houses,

Winging over the snow,

Clearing out the demons from the countryside,

They make it new and ready for Christmastide.
