Carrickmacross Baptist Church

“that you may know that you have eternal life”

Our pastor, Jim Grosser and his wife, Ann-Elise, are committed

to teaching God’s Word and encouraging His people.

Who we are

We are a group of people of all ages and several nationalities who love God and each other and want to live for our Saviour Jesus Christ.

This relatively new congregation grew out of a Bible study group that began meeting in 1993 in the home of Andy Spohrer, a Baptist pastor from the USA.  Within a few years numbers had grown, and a larger meeting place was needed.  In the summer of 2001 we moved the Sunday service to one of the classrooms in St. Louis School, where we have continued to meet weekly since then.  The Sunday morning worship service is held at 10:00AM above the Old School Yard.

On Sundays we use a contemporary blend of instruments, including keyboard, guitar, clarinet, and percussion, to accompany the spirited singing of worship songs and updated hymns.  As Baptists we place a strong emphasis on the Bible and understanding how it relates to our lives in today’s world.  Smaller groups meet for informal Bible discussion throughout the week.

Pastor Jim Grosser says, “We believe that God means to speak to human beings like us through His Word.  The Bible not only tells us the truth about how to find real purpose in life, but also explains how to face the world to come with calm assurance.  Its self-stated purpose is: ‘so that you may know that you have eternal life.’” (1 John 5:13)

Like the adherents of most Christian churches, Baptists believe in the holy Trinity, the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our salvation and His second coming.  We would describe our faith in God as more a relationship than a religion.  The name “Baptist” comes from the practice of administering Christian baptism by immersing believers in water when they are old enough to profess faith in Jesus Christ for themselves.

Many members of the church formed a choir recently for a special Service of Dedication to welcome our new pastor and his wife.
