"It's a journey from who you think you are,
through who you fear you might be,
to who you really are."
Breathe Magazine, JAS, 1992

Rebirthing is a simple breathing technique rooted in the ancient traditions of India and China but developed in the United States in the early 1970's. Over the past thirty years, it has been shaped by the discipline of both western and eastern psychology into a very gentle form of breathwork psychology. Modern Rebirthing is a holistic mind-body therapy that allows people access to the world inside themselves in a multi-dimensional, experiential way.

Rebirthing is an exceptionally effective method of changing the way people feel about themselves and life. It is about freedom, about liberating "our core selves from inner constraints, from the tyranny of 'should', from the strait-jacket of a lifetime of conditioning. The result is a life lived creatively, a life lived in daily contact with who we are, not who we think we should be." (Rebirthing and Breathwork, Piaktus, 2000) For many, this also leads to a sense of spiritual connection and belonging.

"The evidence suggests that feelings are subject to
alteration to appropriate breathing exercises."
Brain Mind Bulletin, Vol. 8, No. 3, 1983

There are many reasons why people come to Rebirthing but common to almost everyone is the simple desire to feel happier and to live their lives with greater confidence, freedom and self-determination.

Rebirthing addresses a wide range of issues including:

Relationship
difficulties
Low self-confidence and shyness
Depression, anxiety and other diagnosed states
Stress, both at home and at work
Not realising their full potential
Career difficulties
Life crises and periods of change and transition
Past trauma and abuse
Wanting to get to know themselves better
Not knowing what they want in life
Feeling trapped in a way of being
Feeling exhausted from trying to please others
