EXPLANATION OF LETTER WITH EASTER
ENVELOPES
I am sure you are wondering
what the letter that was delivered to you with the Easter offering
envelope is all about. The
letter is a result of a visit by Ann Reilly, from the ‘Debt and
Development’ coalition to our Parish.
She spoke to the Cloonfad/Mazamba Committee, about third world
debt especially Mozambique, we as a Parish are involved with that
Country. The ‘Debt and
Development’ coalition is sponsored by 83 organisations throughout the
country, including Development agencies, Religious,
Solidarity Groups, Trade Unions and many other organisations and
individuals who share a deep concern about the injustice of the debt
crisis. As you can see the letter is to really urge Minister Cowan to
put pressure on the I.M.F and World Bank at the Spring meetings in
April. It would be much
appreciated if you would kindly address the letter to your local T.D.
and sign it, if you would then return it and place it in a box which
will be at the rear of the Church.
The letters will then be forwarded to the local T.D. who will
present them to the Minister, and perhaps raise the whole question in
the Dail. Thanking
you all for your co-operation on this matter.
Mazamba Committee.
