PRAYER MEETING

OPEN UNIVERSTY
For those who are studying part-time at home for a Degree or Diploma, an Open University information evening will be held at Claremorris Library on Tuesday 7th October at 7pm.  All are welcome

CLOONFAD MAGAZINE 2003
A committee meeting will take place on Wednesday 8th October at 9pm in the Community Centre.  FINAL REMINDER – CLOSING DATE SUNDAY 5TH OCTOBER  Please hand in articles, photographs, Wedding & 21st Photographs, Organisation Updates and reports, and entries for the Cover Photography competition to O’Malley’s shop or to any member of the magazine committee.
SPONSORED SILENCE
A 10 hour sponsored silence undertaking by 9 members of the community will take place on Saturday October 11th from 1pm to 11pm in the village.  This is a fund raising event in aid of the Christmas Lighting in the village.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.
MEETING
Parents and members of the outgoing Board of Management of Cloonfad NS are invited to a meeting in the Community Centre on Monday night Oct 6 at 8pm.
COMMUNITY CENTRE BOOKING
Bookings are now being taken for the Winter Seasons.  Please note that all meetings, games etc. must be booked in advance.  Rate for sports hall is €1.50 per person.  Bookings to B.Cregg 0907 46129 and key must be handed back immediately afterwards.

Fr. Buffe during the Mass at the Mass Rock in the lands of Johnny Gannon, Cloonarkin outside Cloonfad which took place yesterday 11th October.  The tridentine Mass, which is said in latin in the old traditional way attracted over fifty people to the site.  The site, said Fr. Buffe, also witnessed the massacre of between 350 and 700 men women and children while attending service to God.

MASS FOR MOTHER TERESA AT KNOCK SHRINE
The beatification of Mother Teresa of Calcutta is scheduled to take place in Rome on 19th October.  Accordingly, a Mass of thanksgiving on behalf of all Irish Church members is to be celebrated at Knock on Sunday 26th October.  The Archbishop of Armagh Most Reverend Sean Brady, will be the principal celebrant.  The Sacred Music for the Liturgy will be provided by Fr.Liam Lawton and his choir.  Everyone is welcome.
NORTH WEST WHEEL BIN SERVICES
North West Wheel Bin services ask all customers in the Cloonfad/Granlahan area to have their blue bins out 2 hours earlier than usual on Thursday 16th October.   No other coloured bin will be emptied on that day.  Thank You.
LADIES LEAGUE FINAL
Best of luck to Michael Glaveys Junior ladies team who play Roscommon Gaels in the County League Final (a competition that involves all clubs in the county, senior, intermediate and junior) in Dr.Hyde Park on Sunday at 1.30pm.  Please support.  Michael Glavey’s senior mens team play Shannon Gaels in a championship relegation play off in Elphin on Sunday at 4pm.  Please Support.
GIRLS SPORT
Supervised sport will commence in the Community Centre on Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm for secondary school girls and 5th and 6th class of primary school.
CLOONFAD UNITED
Lead the St.Patricks Day Parade!  Cloonfad United announces the Mayor of Cloonfad Competition 2004.  Nominations of candidates to Steve Pilgrim on 0907 46293 by Friday 24th October.  Then get Fund-raising!  We wish all candidates the best of luck in their campaign”

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations and best wishes to Mary Keane (Moigh) and Clive Jennings (Castlebar) who got married in Barna Church on Saturday October 18th.  We wish them a lifetime of health and happiness.
CLOONFAD ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE
Cloonfad Entertainment Committee with to thank everyone who made the ‘sponsored silence’ such a success.  We have raised €1500 to date, but there are still more cards to be collected.  Also a big thank you to Flatleys, Griffins, and Keanes for providing us with food throughout the day, also O’Malleys and Costcutters who donated the prizes.
VIATORES CHRISTI (TRAVELLERS FOR CHRIST)
Members of Viatores Christi will speak at the Masses in the parish on Sat 25th and Sun 26th Oct.  They are catholic lay people who have spent or will spend a few years of their life in service of people and places in areas of the World where they are most needed.  They are talking to us to raise awareness about the missionary work of the Church, and the role of lay missionaries, both at home and overseas.

WEST OF IRELAND ALZHEIMER FOUNDATION
 The West of Ireland Alzheimer Foundation awareness campaign is running from Tuesday 28th October to Friday 31st October, to highlight the issues surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and to provide information for carers and families. The time and venue is as follows: 31st Oct 11am-4pm Main St, Castlebar (Outside AIB).  Further information contact Mayo Office in Ballindine Tel. 094 9364900.
BODY TONING & AEROBICS
Body Toning and Aerobics by Noreen will take place on Monday & Thursday nights in Michael Glavey’s Community Centre Ballinlough from 8-9pm.  All levels catered for, everyone welcome.
SPECIAL NEEDS ASSISTANT COURSE
Special Needs Assistant course run by Roscommon V.E.C. commencing on Tuesday 28th Oct at 7.30pm in Enterprise Kiltullagh training centre (opposite White House Hotel).  Further details contact 0907 40466 from 10am-2pm Monday to Friday.
