Welcome to Desertserges National School situated in the West Cork countryside over looking the Bandon River. The school itself is over 100 years old and full of history. The building is modern with a new extension added on in September 2002.

We are a three teacher school, with two teachers based in the school each teaching four classes and we have a Resource Teacher who is shared with another school. We have a full-time Special Needs Assistant,a school cleaner and a secretary. We have visits for our weekly School Assemblies from our local Church of Ireland and Methodist Clergy.

We are fully supported by both our Board of Management and our Parent Teacher Association. We annually Fund-Raise both for our school and for other worthy causes, especially those involving children. Our parents are very much involved in our school, they help by painting, gardening, raising money for new equipment, giving special art or science classes, helping at Christmas and at the School Fete.

We have a school uniform which consists of a blue sweatshirt and a yellow sports top, the crests of each are above on the banner. The uniform is worn for special occasions when the pupils are representing the school at an event, i.e. school tour, Sports Day, our annual Carol Service.

We enjoy doing alot of extra hands-on activities, like gardening, cooking and crafts.

We have a wide range of sports at our school, football, tag-rugby, hockey, badminton, tennis, volleyball, boules, croquet, the long jump, the parachute etc We also arrange for the pupils to go swimming every year.

We promote good writing and encourage lots of reading from a wide variety of sources, last year we won 6 prizes at Clonakilty show for writing.
