| Here you see one question word conas (how) take
the independent
form of the verb conas a bhí . . . and the other
cén chaoi (what way, how) take the dependent
form cén chaoi a raibh . . . From these examples we
can make up questions with the
other verbs which have the two forms (or other irregularities)
in the past tense. they are fuair, faca, deachaigh, dearna, dúirt,
and raibh (dependent forms) or fuair, chonaic, chuaigh,
rinne, dúirt, and bhí (independent forms) |

| Do not be daunted by these different constructions and forms.
That is all there is! Learn these and the other tenses will be easy.
For accuracy you should try to get them right. They are important.
The "a" which appears after conas and cén
chaoi is the relative pronoun which I will deal with later.
