Leann dubh -- porter, stout. (but lionn dubh -- melancholy!!!) Leann - - (pale) ale is generally masculine - - firinscneach - - and one would expect bairille leanna duibh i.e. tuiseal ginideach. Here it is feminine - baininscneach. pé rud eile a leanfadh iad - - whatever else would follow them i.e. whatever other gifts and goodies they might bring back with them from the mainland.
