Anois gurb iad muintir Dhún Chaoin a shloigfeadh iad - - now (they regretted) that it will be the people of Dunquin who would drink them. I love how Tomás leaves out the verb which puts is iad muintir Dhún Chaoin a shloigfidh iad into reported speech -- claoninsint. One would expect gurbh iad - - that it would be but the islanders know the porter is already being drunk so gurb iad - - that it is (or will be) You will remember that this verb - - an chopail - - has only two tenses present/future (is) and historic/conditional (ba).
