Buzz talks to Chrissie from Knockbrack

Hello my name is Chrissie. I am twelve years old. I live on a farm.  We farm cows sheep and dry stock. When the cow s have their calves, they feed them with their milk and when they get older they are sold in the local mart in Athenry. 
Each season brings it own hard work. In winter the farmer brings in his cattle into the slatted shed so that the grass will be ready for the next season. Farmers spread slurry and manure on the fields so it will help the grass to grow. 
 

In spring it is a very busy time of year because sheep have their lambs and they all come at a different time or sometimes together. They also get fed by the ewe. 
In summer farmers cut the silage for fodder for cattle in the winter. 

While my father is outside my mother cooks the dinner for my father and the rest of us. We have cabbage and bacon with potatoes. This is a very popular Irish dish. My dad has not regularly hours, he starts at dawn and ends at dark.
