Lucky was just 6-7 days old when rescued - her mother was moving the cubs from one earth to another when she was caught in a neck snare put out by someone. The vixen was killed but Lucky, who she had been carrying at the time, was dropped and her neck was twisted.
Luckily a lady out for a walk heard Lucky's cries, rescued her and brought her to the Talnotry Avian Care Trust (TACT) in Crumlin, Co Antrim. She was only given 2 days to live by the vet but after a long rehabilitation and plenty of injections, love and care she survived and is now 18 months old. Unfortunately she is far too tame to go back to the wild but now helps with TACT's wildlife education programme. |
