The very first tractors were steam engines. The first steam tractor was made in the 1880’s.They were too heavy for farmers because it sunk in soft land. Instead of pulling the plough back and forth some had a steam tractor on each side of the field with a wire cable around a winch on each steam engine which pulled the plough back and forth the field. To this very day you can see them in Stradbally, Portlaoise, Co. Laois steam rally .People do steam tractors up for a hobby. And then every year they have a rally with small tractors, trains and all sorts of steam tractors on Sunday and Monday of the August bank Holiday weekend. By Richard Palmer. |
A dolphin is a mammal not a fish. It cannot get oxygen from water like fish. It must breathe air like humans. A dolphin has a blow hole on his back that is used for coming to the surface and it breathes air. The dolphin eats a lot if fish. Their teeth are all the same. They are very strong(the teeth). A dolphin’s body is a nice shape for moving so it makes them move very fast. Aa they move their tail helps push up and down to move along. The dolphin uses it’s flippers and fins on it’s back to steer in different directions. Dolphins live their whole life at sea. The female dolphin have baby every 3-4 years. When it’s being born the tail comes first. The minute the calf is born it can see. The mother brings the calf up for it’s first air. The calf feeds from it’s mother till it is 218-19 months and then it might be able to feed itself. Dolphins wouls never let calves out to sea on it’s own because they are very protective. Nearly every 20 minutes the calf goes to the bottom of the sea and gets a feed. By Sharlene Quinn.
