Donegal 14 T Animal Round

I was surprised at how much work had been put into the shoot site in Donegal for there first competition shoot in their new woods. Well done lads, as I know how back breaking it can be cutting steps into a hill side to get up to the target, clearing away most overhang from the trees and raking up the forest floor. It was also nice shooting into Superbutts.
The course was also arrow friendly (after the back netting went up) and it was set out to be very challenging for the compound shooter. I can feel the pain for the trad archer and the cubs as most shots had to be taken from the one peg. Any shooter going to Switzerland this summer will benefit from this. There was also a very good mix of up and down shots. Well done - and I am looking forward to shooting in Donegal again.

What a course....great work was done by the Donegal archery group in getting ready one of the best courses I've shot on so far in this island of ours.....The rain did dampen things just a wee bit but the crack was great and the bluebells lovely. Great to see friends, and the few glasses on Sunday night were very welcome. Thank god Don B. had the law looking after him.!!!!!! read more on the Dunbrody Target letter....can't bring him anywhere.... at least the Cork boys didn't get into any trouble!!!! I look forward to shooting again on this course but please let the faces be bigger or nearer.
Again well done to Donegal - and to all the archers out there that didn't travel - you missed a real great shoot.....

Donegal was the only IFAF club I hadn't shot with, so when their re-inaugural shoot came up I was eager to get there and give it a go. I had a bad start to the day (my bow fell apart when I was settling the limbs into the pockets! Always check the string is on properly!!) and it didn't get much better when I started shooting. Despite that, the course was a delight to go round in some great woods with lots of variety in the shots and the company, as always, was very good. The weather wasn't the best, especially after the week we'd had but we managed to finish before the worst of it. All in all a great weekend. Well done to the lads of Donegal Archery Club
