Where is Grace Dieu ?
The Retreat House is situated on the main Waterford to
Tramore road, about three miles from the city. Waterford is
situated in Ireland's south-east region and the island is well
served by International Airports and Ferryports linking it to the
U.K, mainland Europe and the USA. The road network to Waterford
from other major centres is very good and there are excellent
national and local bus services. Waterford City has a mainline
rail link to Dublin, Rosslare, Cork and Limerick City..
By
Air
Waterford City is a 2.5 hour drive from Dublin
International Airport, which operates services to the U.K,
mainland Europe and North America. Waterford Airport is situated
7km from the City and operates daily direct flights to and from
the Manchester and Luton in the U.K. Furthermore, Cork Airport is only 90 minutes by car from
Grace Dieu and this airport also operates scheduled flights to and from the
U.K and some mainland European cities. Further west is Shannon
Airport which is approximately 2 hours by car and operates daily
flights to the U.K (a limited service), mainland Europe and the
USA.
Visitors from the USA can obtain travel information from Aer Lingus, Ireland's
National Airline,
or from either Delta Airlines
or Virgin Airlines.
By Sea
Waterford City is less than 90 minutes drive from the
port of Rosslare from which Irish Ferries Irish Ferries
and P&O Stena Line
operate regular daily services to the U.K and mainland
Europe throughout the year. Irish Ferries also provide daily
crossing from the Port of Dublin,provides the equivalent services
from Dun Laoghaire (Co. Dublin) Ferry serives between Ireland and
the U.k or mainland Europe are also available from Cork City..
By Rail
Iarnrod Eireann -
Irish Rail operates mainline rail services to Dublin via Kilkenny;
Rosslare via Wexford and Limerick via Carrick-on-Suir. The
automated timetable for service information between Dublin/Waterford
can be accessed by dialing (Dublin 01) 805 4233..
Follow the N7 to Naas and then on to N9 for Waterford.
Travelling from Cork: Take the N25 following signs for
Waterford
Travelling from Shannon: Take the N19 to the Limerick turn-off on
the N18 and follow signs for the N24, Waterford. Once you arrive
in Waterford follow the signs for Tramore, Grace Dieu is situated
on your left as you leave Waterford City.
A regular bus service from Waterford to Tramore provided by Bus
Eireann/Irish bus departs from the Bus Station on the quays
at least every 60 minutes..
Rapid Express
Coaches (01) 679 1549/(01) 679 0278, depart outside the
Ulster Bank on George's Quay, Dublin for Tramore several times each day. If
you ask the coach driver they will drop you at the entrance to Grace Dieu.
