New I and I1 Designations - Haplogroups Members y-DNA Results TableThis is the IHDP results page for all members of the Haplogroup I and its sub-groups. The table below may contain members from FTDNA, DNA Heritage and Oxford results. These results are sorted and merged in MS Access. On this page a further table contains an I Haplogroup SNP (sub-Clade) Table with a detailed breakdown of the sub-clades/groups within the I haplogroup. Here is a research paper on the I Haplogroup that members may find informative: Haplogroup I - Irish Observations The I Haplogroup has its Highest frequencies in Scandinavia, Sardinia, and the Slavic populations of the Western Balkans. Haplogroup I1a for instance, displays a very defined frequency flow. Its frequency peak is approximately 35% among the populations of southern Norway, southwestern Sweden, and Denmark. This rapidly decreases in frequency as it moves towards the edge of the historically Germanic areas of Europe. In Ireland it is, after R1b, the most common haplogroup. You will find its distribution is not confined to Hiberno-Norman famillies or famillies who are assumed to have or claim a Scandanavian ancestry. It is most common amongst Gaelic Irish Surnames, there is asome evidence emerging to suggest it may have a strong regional bias. For instance I2a is very heavily concentrated in the South Down area amongst the Gaelige Irish surnames anciently associated with that and adjacent areas. Now whether this is amongst the ruling elites of the Gaelige Irish or their followers or is evidence of Scandanavian settlement and assimilation in the native population is still hard to tell. After R1b - haplogroup I is the next most common group found in Ireland. It is approximately 16% of the total membership or about 590+ test results. Haplogroup I is most closely related to Haplogroup J, as both Haplogroup I and Haplogroup J are descendants of Haplogroup IJ (S2, S22). Haplogroup IJ is in turn derived from Haplogroup F. I Group Irish Demographic SummaryThis is a brief summary of the I Group distribution out of a total of 548*(as of summer 2008). There are approx 195 I2a'a and 135 I2b's, of the I2a's approx 96 are from Ulster most from the South Ulster.
I..H.D.P Listing of I Haplogroup Members Results In the results table below, Red Columns indicate Fast Mutating DYS Markers, these can and should be used to determine relatedness between close matching results. The Blue columns reflect the ten markers used in the appendices of Bryan Sykes book "Blood of the Isles" - Bantam press, London. The results associated with the book are available as a downloadable PDF file from the following website: Blood of the Isles. The Blue columns are useful guides for deep ancestry study. IMPORTANT UPDATE: It is no longer possible to display the full results here due to the sheer size of the project. This makes the display of the I Haplogroup results difficult. We are working on a much better solution and it will be unveiled to you all shortly. In the meantime the results are STILL available here on this page. However to Open Link, SAVE As Target, Print you can do so if you wish. Below you will find an explaination of how to access the IHDP members results. If you have an difficulty with this please contact the Administrators. The Complete IHDP I Haplogroup Results Presentation Here is the complete set of IHDP membership results. In the Excell file there is an autofilter on the header to enable turning/on/off columns and carrying out queries. The CSV file is generated by Excell and be opened in Excell or a text editor or used for further research. The text file is a "space" delimited file and useful also for further research purposes. Important: Please check the results linked to this page, check to see if your listing is present. If your results are upgraded and you have received notification from FTDNA, let the Administrators know. The IHDP administrators are not always informed by FTDNA if your markers have been posted or if your Haplogroup (SNP test) has changed.
Haplogroup I Sub-Clade Tables with SNP ValuesHaplogroup I is most closely related to Haplogroup J. If you look at the table below, it helps explain in a graphical way the relationships of all Haplogroup I's sub-groups and classifications.
