Over the past number of years, I have been fortunate enough to be asked to read great bundles of radio plays and whittle them down to a shortlist, so that much greater and better-looking people than me can declare one of them to be a winner.
I've done this for a number of Playwrighting competitions and enjoy it very much.
It has given me the opportunity of reading some truly great and also some truly dreadful plays.
It is also a great way of getting ideas for MY plays hehehehe (a joke, dammit, it's just a joke).
I thought somebody might find it helpful if I outlined a few of the more typical problems which can arise with submitted plays.
To do this, I might use bits of critiques I've done in order to illustrate the point.
If you happen to find your play-review in here, don't be too mad at me, I do try my best. :-)
If you get pissed-off reading this and would find it theraputic, you can hurl abuse at me by mailing
But don't feel obliged, eh?
Some critiques (only the names
have been changed to protect the innocent)
