I was just painting the shapes
and colours of how I was feeling, reflecting the colours of Australia.
"The landscape changed gradually as we travelled, from brown fields
with large trees and lovely horses just north of Perth, to bushland and
sand coloured farm land with smaller, bushier trees, to just bush, to
red sandy ground with heath-like covering in bright green, light green,
pale green, orange and ochre, all with grey burnt looking branches. On
bushes there were flowers the shape of corn cobs in red, becoming white
as the small heads fell off to leave the core. It was so dry. I would
like to come back in the winter when the wheatfields are green and there
are carpets of wild flowers."
