Podiatrists v Chiropodists
October 2005 Having devoted a great deal of time and energy during the Committee and Report Stages of the Health and Social Care Professionals Bill 2004 (17 November 2004, 27 April 2005), trying to get the Minister for Health and Children to agree to replace the term “chiropodists” with the term “podiatrists” and including a B.Sc. in Podiatry as the relevant qualification without success, I was delighted to find the change has been made at the Committee Stage in the Dáil — Yippee! But, no change in the policy of protecting “physical therapist” with “physiotherapist” I regret to say. |
