Thanksgiving
Mass September 3rd 2006
The
Thanksgiving Mass for the 150 years of Passionist Presence in Mount Argus
and Ireland was celebrated on Sunday 3rd September 2006 at 11.00 a.m.
The principal concelebrant and preacher was Archbishop Diarmuid Martin
D.D., Archbishop of Dublin. Among the concelebrants were Bishop Donal
McKeown, Auxiliary Bishop of Down and Connor, Fr. Ottaviano D'Egidio C.P.,
Passionist General from Rome, Fr. Martin Coffey C.P., Provincial, Fr.
Frank Keevins C.P. Rector of Mount Argus, and Mgr. Sean Cahill, PP, VG.,
Parish Priest of Enniskillen.

At
the head of the congregation in the full Church were President Mary McAleese,
Uachtaran na nEireann and her husband. Fr. Anselm C.P. was chaplain to
the President. In attendance were the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor
Vincent Jackson and his wife. Their chaplain was Fr. Patrick Rogers C.P.

The
prayerful celebration generated a warm uplifting spiritual atmosphere
which was appreciated by all. Excellent readers, beautiful singers, and
delightfulful dancers enhanced the ceremony. The beauty of the Church
was enriched by wonderful floral displays.
