26th January 2000

January was critical month in the development of the messiah operation. The band gave two FREE shows, says drummer Jon Leech "to show fans our appreciation for the passion they have for our music". The two shows had varying success. A large crowd assembled for the first event, in fact the largest group the band had ever amassed. The highlights included a rousing rendition of the number 41Lithuanian hit 'B4 Anaesthesia'. Former member Tadhg Peavoy (see below)

also arrived on stage for an admittedly tired rendition of Sympathy. Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' also received loud support. To the bands dismay the show had to be stopped half through. It later emerges that a near disaster was narrowly averted. The microphone stands had been dislodged during the performance. Only serious when it is considered that the stands were constructed from highly unstable mercury .A minor nuclear explosion was narrowly averted. Temple Bar staff admit that this was a serious mistake on their behalf. Band members let the stage manager know their feelings, at first relieving him of his duties but then agreed to allow him back once the venue had decontaminated, a process that takes anything up to 250,000 years. Luckily though the nuclear Safety board passed it safe for the next free show a mere week later.

Enda did unfortunately receive radiation poisoning and could not perform. Paul attempted to fill in but the band struggled to reach their own hectic live standards. Luckily the night was rescued when along time acquaintance of the group, Nine Inch Niall, a San Francisco rock circuit veteran recently given bail from his 32nd consecutive jail sentence. He sang for 'Whiskey In the Jar' and 'Enter Sandman'. Guitar technician Mark Duffy (recently pronounced to be none other than the long lost brother of former Guns'n'Roses bassist Duff McKagan) also took to stage for an incredible version of 'Every me And Every You' by Placebo. Already a renowned British tabloid is linking Mark Duffy to the vacant vocalist position (after the same tabloid revealed the day before former singer Brian Molko had injured his back in a bizarre sexual act and was now paralysed). Neither party has yet to comment.

Astounding news has emerged about the departure of Tadhg Peavoy. Tiger left, it emerges, due to tax offences. Tadhg owes The Federal States of Mochiba (a small Asian nation off the cost of Taiwan) an astounding $13 million .The singer had to leave after the Mochiban government accepted his offer for a pound of flesh. Tadhg revealed in a press conference that he had top surgeons remove a pound of flesh from all non-essential organs. But Tadhg was not too dismayed at affairs; "I needed to lose some weight anyway and now that the surgeons removed a second pound of flesh to cover their costs my figure is trimmer than ever."

Stevo Heroe has been announced the new manager of the Operation. In a press conference last week the new manager said that the band would be searching for new rehearsal space and all in all seemed pleasant enough. Former manager Kevin Lally has departed after allegations of guitar tuner theft. Kevin denies these claims and is looking to resume his career with Artane boy band 'Goldrush'. Their debut single 'Drink My Love Milk' is out on February the 16th. Kevin denies this is in any way suggestive and also announces this is also to be the theme to a major new Kelloggs advertising campaign.

Leech??
This photo was taken moments after Leech's run-in with the law. Could it be possible...??
Enda was arrested on January 20th, a story topping many of this weeks headlines. A girl of merely 16 years reported Enda to the police for 'stalking her constantly', for the best part of two months. Remarkable considering Jon had been arrested for exactly the same offence, on exactly the same civilian who is only known as Cassandra, two days previously. Enda explained that 'he was from the future and if he got to her humanity was doomed'. Police held him back for two nights on account of his 'disregard for the privacy of others' a statement said. Jon did not answer questions, instead fatally wounding two dozen Gardai before walking through a brick wall, despite taking a number of gunshots to the head. Gardai did not follow up the incident.

In minor news Delanee and Campbell were also arrested for Gun running and Prostitution racketing consecutively. Both were released on bail two weeks into their life sentences.

More diary next month.
