School transport is available to students who are resident three miles or more from the nearest post-primary school. Contact the school for further details.

The school uniform consists of the following:

| Flat dark shoes. (Runners are not allowed). | |

Necessitous students qualify for the Book Grant. The Department of Education and Science has defined a "necessitous" student as from a home where genuine hardship exists because of unemployment, prolonged illness of parent, large family with inadequate means, where the mother is a widow, etc. Contact the school for further clarification.

There is a common entry application form to Limerick City schools. Parents are welcome to make an appointment with the school Principal between October and March, regarding student entry to Scoil Carmel.

Students are not required to pay a fee to the school. However, since the annual cost of running the school greatly exceeds the grant provided by the Department of Education and Science, students are asked to pay an annual contribution towards the cost of photocopying, examinations, and other costs. There is also an extra charge for each student taking Art.

A Pastoral Care system is in place for all classes, where teachers help and advise students. Parents are also invited to become involved and discuss any aspect of their daughter's school life with the appropriate person. Appointments should be made in advance.

Guidance is given to all students, which varies from coping with the transition to a new school to information on careers, subject choices and correct study methods. The Guidance Counsellor is available to all students for individual counselling. Career talks, mock interviews and visits from specialists are organised for senior pupils.

A trained teacher is available to assess, monitor and help students who experience special learning difficulties, or other problems that affect their academic progress.

There are five Year Heads, one for each Student Year Group. The Year Heads are all members of the teaching staff and they continually monitor the attendance, behaviour and progress of each student in their care.

Detailed written academic reports are sent to parents at Christmas time and in May/June. Reports are also sent at Easter for the Junior and Leaving Certificate students.

There are official Parent-Teacher Meetings held for each year group once every year. At other times, parents are welcome to come to the school to discuss their daughters' progress with the Principal and individual members of staff. Private consultation of this nature is by appointment only.
