A Short Walk to the Grotto by Aibhin

On the 16th of September 5th and 6th Classes went for a short walk to the Grotto. On the way we saw a wall that probably is over 150 years old. This wall was built around a field, which is now Marian terrace, which was built in 1954 the same year as Mr Shanahan was born. The wall was 3 metres high but now it is about 1 metre high. Later we came o a cottege, which is now a ruin, and it also had a bus stop outside. After that we walked to a lane and we saw an army camp which is not being used any more. As we walked on we came to a green shed which was actually a cinema. And then we came to the grotto which was where we were planning to visit and we read the sign saying ‘Erected by the parishioners for Marian year on the 15th of August 1954’. So after we said an "Our Father" in Irish we headed back to school.
