Taghmon/Camross GAA Notes

Hurling League

Taghmon-Camross junior hurlers started the league campaign with a good win by 1-13 to 2-6 over Davidstown-Courtnacuddy in Taghmon on Saturday evening. Taghmon came back from 1-4 to 0-5 down at half time. Eight different players scored and juvenile star of last year, Eoin Leacy accounted for 7 points. Also good for Taghmon/Camross were Jimmy Doran, Jonny Waters and David Banville. Scorers were Eoin Leacy (0-7), Joey Williams (1-0), Jonny Waters, Jimmy Doran, Joe Doyle, John O'Connor, Derek Kent, and Michael Carty (0-1) each. The intermediate team commence in the league at home to Fethard on Tuesday April 20 at 7pm.

The senior footballers play away at Fethard on Friday (April 16) at 7 pm in the Tommy Murphy Cup.

Minor Football

The minor footballers beat St. Anne's away 3-10 to 0-9 last Friday night to make up for a home defeat by 1-8 to 3-5 to Rathgarogue-Cushinstown on Tuesday evening last. In the match against Cushinstown the scorers were Adrian Morrissey (0-6), Seán Breen (1-0), Eoin Leacy (1-0), Eoin Morrissey (0-1). Also good for Camross were Tom Fox, Darren Colfer and Martin Coady. Too many wides cost the match. The performance against St. Anne's was much better with good performances from Shane Fox, Tom Fox, John Kelly, Eoin Leacy, Jonny Waters, Darren Colfer, Martin Coady and Jason Delaney. Scorers were Leroy Dunne (1-1), Seán Breen (1-1), Adrian Morrissey (0-3), Jason Delaney (0-2), Darren Colfer (0-2), Martin Coady (0-1), and an own goal. The next match is at home to Blackwater at 6:30 pm on Friday (April 16).

Juvenile Football

The juvenile footballers defeated Clongeen last Wednesday in their opener. Scorers were Lloyd Colfer (1-4), Mikey Stafford (0-1), D. Hanlon (0-1). They lost by a point, 2-11 to 1-13, away to St. James' on Sunday. Scorers were Lloyd Colfer (1-8), Barry Doyle, John Kelly, Mikey Stafford, Martin Coady, and Gavin Kehoe (0-1) each. Also good for Taghmon were Leroy Dunne, David Whitty, and Darren Colfer. They play Fethard at home this evening (Wednesday April 14) at 6:30 pm.

Camogie

In the U-16 Camogie League on March 27 Taghmon-Camross defeeated Geraldine O'Hanrahans by 5-1 to 2-0. Scorers were Áine Breen (2-0), Cussie Murphy (2-0), Christine O'Gorman (1-0) and Avril Nolan (0-1). The under 12 had a walk over against Ballygarret recently. Training is on Saturday from 12-1 pm for U-12 and 3-4 pm for U-14 and U-16.

Club Meeting

There is a club general meeting on Monday April 19 at 9 pm in the Community Centre. County development tickets should be returned as soon as possible.
