Football

The ACFL regular season ended for the club with a doubleheader in Taghmon on Saturday evening.  The seniors defeated Ballyhogue by 1-8 to 1-3 to secure a top place finish in Premier B and entry into the playoff stages and promotion to Premier A.  The match was played in wet windy conditions that felt more like March than June with an intensity that approached that of championship.  Taghmon/Camross started well and with a number of quick points and a goal took an early lead.  But Ballyhogue came back with a penalty before halftime to leave the score at 1-4 to 1-1.  However, in the second half Taghmon/Camross extended the lead.  It was very promising that 7 different players scored for Taghmon/Camross - Trevor MacLoughlin (0-3), Eoin O’Gorman (1-0), Micheál O’Grady, Michael O’Sullivan, Paddy FitzPatrick, Gearóid Kelly, Jason MacLoughlin (0-1 each).  For Ballyhogue Denis Kenny (1-2), Adrian Whelan (0-1).

The juniors lost to Naomh Eanna by 1-8 to 1-6 in a match immediately following.  Taghmon/Camross fielded a weakened side with many players unavailable and many others had to play in the two matches.  The scorers were Paddy Fitzpatrick (1-0), Eamonn Codd (0-2), Joe Doyle, Gearóid Kelly, Ger Power, and Tomás Banville (0-1).  For Naomh Eanna Liam Breen (0-3), Enda Kinsella (1-0), Stephen Kinsella, John O’Brien (0-2), Nicky Stafford (0-1).
