Taghmon-Camross GAA Club Notes, 21 August 2000

Football Championship

Taghmon-Camross will not be making an immediate return to senior after a heartbreaking defeat to Ballyhogue by 0-15 to 1-10 on Saturday evening in Bellefield.  Several players did not play up to full potential.  One consolation is the good performances of the younger players so the chances are we will not be down for much longer.  The scorers for Taghmon-Camross were Adrian Morrissey (0-4), Micheal O´Grady (1-1), Jason Delaney (0-2), Bernard O´Gorman, Jason McLoughlan, and Martin Hogan (0-1).

U-21 Hurling

The U-21 hurlers are out of this year´s championship after a 2-11 to 0-10 defeat to a better organised Bannow-Ballymitty team last Monday evening in Clongeen.  At half time Taghmon trailed by 1-5 to 0-6 and could have been level if they had elected to go for goal instead of a point with a last minute penalty.  This was a creditable performance against a strong Ballymitty team.  However, an early goal for Ballymitty in the second half and a number of points put them into the comfortable lead and they never looked like being caught.  The scorers for Camross were Adrian Morrissey (0-4, frees), Eoin Lacey (0-2, frees), Jason Delaney, Martin Cody, Jonny Waters, Gearóid Kelly (0-1).
