Taghmon/Camross GAA Club Notes, 30 April 2001

Football

The first football team won its first match in Premier B with an emphatic home victory over Naomh Eanna by 0-17 to 1-3 on Thursday evening. At half time Taghmon-Camross led by 0-8 to 0-2 thanks especially to Jason McLoughlan who scored 5 from play. There were good perfomances all around especially Trevor McLoughlan at full-back, Dave Foley at centre back, Bernard O'Gorman and Martin Hogan in midfield, and forwards Jason Delaney, Jonny Waters and Jason McLouglan. The scorers were Jason McLoughlan (0-8), Jason Delaney (0-3), Jonathon Waters (0-2), Bernard O'Gorman, Ger Power, Martin Hogan and Malcolm McLoughlan (0-1 each).

Hurling

The junior B hurlers suffered their first defeat at Clongeen on Sunday by 4-11 to 1-13. Goals were the difference which may have been due to the first choice keeper and full-back being unavailable. At half time Clongeen led by 2-4 to 0-8. Taghmon got back on level terms thanks largely to a goal by Eddie Cousins but Clongeen pulled away in the end and the match was ended a few minutes from the end by the fourth goal. The scorers for Taghmon/Camross were David Bury (0-6, all frees), Eddie Cousins (1-1), David Banville (0-2), Martin Hogan, David Morrissey, Mick O'Gorman and Nicky Cousins (0-1 each).

The Junior A team plays the first round of the championship against Raparees on Saturday May 12 at 6 pm in Cushenstown.

The U-10's had a win in the Caulfield league beating Cushenstown by 4-1 to 1-1.

County development draw tickets are available from all committee members and in the community centre. The club asks club supporters to buy tickets from the club. The Lotto is up to £7,700. The next draw is next Wednesday. Tickets are available from usual sources.
