The Leaving Certificate Applied is a distinct self-
contained, two year Leaving Certificate programme
aimed at preparing students for adult and working life.

It has been introduced to recognise the talents of all
students and to provide opportunities for development in
terms of responsibility, self esteem and self knowledge.

It helps students apply what they learn in the real world.

Each year of the programme is divided into two sessions
for which pupils receive credits. Courses are offered in
three main areas:

Vocational Preparation - which focuses on preparation
for work ,work experience and communications.

General Education - which gives students general life
skills including the arts, leisure and languages.

Vocational Education - this area covers mathematics and
information technology and practical skills that may be
needed for ares of work in tourism or business.

We also as part of the course, do many projects including
projects on Drugs and Homelessness. We organise mini
companies. In the past this has involved making candles,
this year we painted terracota pots and put plants in
them. These were sold before Christmas.
