Memorial to the South Irish Horse, a yeomanry unit. The border contains intertwined shamrocks. Each corner has a scroll bearing the theatres of war in which the unit served (France, Flanders, Egypt, Palestine). The emblem of the S.I.H. (a crown and shamrock ) appears at the top over the inscription: IN MEMORY OF THE OFFICERS NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND TROOPERS OF THE SOUTH IRISH HORSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE 1914. GREAT WAR 1918. [followed by the New Testament passage Revelations XIX] ERECTED BY THEIR COMRADES. |
