Student Boycott of Lectures - 20/11/02

The boycott of lectures and day of action against fees called by the Campaign for Free Education (CFE) took place today.

Hundreds assembled outside the Arts Block and marched around the UCD campus. The march then proceeded to the Administration building to hand in a letter to the President of the College Art Cosgrove. The letter demanded that he withdraws his apparent support for fees.

An organising meeting then took place afterwards. The mood at the organising meeting showed a clear desire for increasing militant action of students inside and outside the college. The mood of anger among ordinary people against the government was also mentioned at the meeting.

It was agreed that CFE should organise for the planned USI demonstrations that will take place before the upcoming budget.
