Spring is here and our GREEN SPRING CLEAN will take place on Friday 4th between 11.15 and 12.40. Your child may wear old clothes if you wish and a rag, cloth or sponge would be useful.

National Educational Welfare Board

The N.E.W.B. was set up under the Education Welfare Act 2000. Under this act, schools are obliged to notify the Board if a child has missed 20 days, whatever the reason.
We decided, as a staff, last year that it would be good working practice to remind parents about this at a certain stage. We settled on 12 days as a reasonable time . Therefore, if your child reaches 12 days absences you will receive a letter informing you of this. Please do not panic. It is not intended as a threatening letter or as the start of an action against you. It is simply a reminder to you, out of courtesy, so that you can then take stock.

Kilkenny Music Festival

Heartiest congratulations to all who competed in Kilkenny Music Festival; Second Class Choir who won their competition and all the individual winners, runners -up and commended performances;
Full list of these on notice board in school.

Inservice Days

We received notice today of our next in-service days. These will take place on Thursday and Friday 24th and 25th February. Children will have no school on these days. We will remind of these dates again. Feb. 24th and 25th Inservice Days
Parent/Teacher meetings were held on Jan. 18Th . Thank you to all who attended. Any suggestions or comments, with regard to these meetings, welcome.

Faith Celebration
All children in the school have an opportunity to attend a “God is...Faith Celebration
Concert on Friday in the hall. We are subsidising the cost so the children will only be charged 1.50 euro. There will be one junior and one senior concert. Further details available on Parents' Noticeboard.

Health and Safety
For health and safety reasons we are strongly attempting to have children enter and exit the school through the door nearest their own classroom. Your co-operation would be much appreciated.

Applications
The closing date for junior infant applications 2005 has passed and applications have been processed. We will have 2 Junior Infant classes. As planned, the current Junior Infants will remain as 3 Senior Infant classes. Replies will be sent to all applicants this week specifying whether a child has been accepted and if not, what number the child is on the waiting list. If you are offered a place for your child, please reply promptly as, in fairness to those waiting, we would like to process the waiting list as quickly as possible.

School Maintenance
Many of the childrens toilets are in need of repair and replacement and a maintenance programme on these has now been started-hopefully to be completed by the end of the year.
