Back to section: 4 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MANAGING THE ACCESSIBILITY

4.1.1 Diagnosis

Prior to designing a method of intervention, it is necessary to understand the current state of the environment by collecting and analysing data on:

1.1 People:

By assessing:

  • The Age pyramid

  • Growth trends

  • The territorial distribution

  • A census of people with disabilities and/ or those at risk of social exclusion

  • Associations

  • Links between the local council and associations

  • The needs of the population

  • 1.2. Environments:

    By assessing:

    • Urban spaces

    • Buildings

    • Transport

    • Municipal services

    1.3. Management:

    By assessing:

    • Political action

    • Administrative structures

    • Participatory networks

    • Training of experts in Design for All.

Analysis of the data collected will provide detailed information about the actual state of the environment and this document will be a valuable basis on which to plan intervention.
