(Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Venturers) Each Beaver is expected to bring the following: · Neco & Woggle · Rain Gear · Warm Clothes · Packed Lunch · Small Holdall Bag The cost of the day is £3.00 per Beaver and we require lifts on Sunday Morning to Larch Hill and also on the return journey back home. If anyone can do a journey then please contact Kieran on 086/6494062 We will be meeting at the Den @ 10.30am and will be returning to the Den @ 3.30pm. This is usually a fun-packed day with something that caters for everyone UNIFORMAll Beavers should wear their Beaver Uniforms to every activity and meeting. I would ask that over the next month or so you try and get your child a Beaver Uniform. The Uniform comprises of a Grey Jumper with the World Scout Badge and the Association Badge. A Neco and Woggle and a Blue Slacks or Tracksuit Bottom. There is two ways of purchasing this uniform. Buy the jumper new from the Scout Shop, which costs around £14-£16 depending on size, and buy the neco, woggle & Unit Badge from the Beaver Team at a cost of £4.00 . The Number for the Scout Shop is 01/8722212. They do offer a mail order service and take all major Credit Card , Lazer etc. The other way of getting uniforms is getting a second hand uniform from someone who left Beavers either this year or last year. BEAVER ZOO DAYMany Thanks to all those Beavers to attended the Beaver Zoo Day recently. Also many thanks to the parents who gave lifts to the Zoo and to our venturer Deco Costello for helping on the dayINFORMATION SUPER HIGHWAYThe Beaver Colony now has its own e-mail address which is 35dublinbeavers@eircom.net. From the Beaver Section Congrat's.INFORMATION FILE:What is Scouting? The aim of the World Organization of the Scout Movement states that ' The purpose of the Scout movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities' and this statement is reflected in our own constitution. The aim of Scouting is built on a number of principles. These principles are the fundamental laws and beliefs, which must be observed when achieving the purpose. They represent a code of conduct, which characterizes all members of the Movement. Scouting is based on three broad principles · Duty to God · Duty to others · Duty to self Beaver Scouts6 - 8 years of ageBeaver scouts are our junior section for 6 - 8 years of age. Their programme is designed to meet the needs of young people of this age group. The emphasis is on meeting and interacting with people of their own age in a programme based around fun and discovery The motto of Beavering is `Sharing' and this is reflected in the programme where the young person learns to share through co-operation, teamwork and effort. Therefore Beavering is designed on a positive group basis. Some of the activities enjoyed at Beaver meetings include: active and quite games, stories, creative crafts, singing, nature study, etc. Once a month, a Beaver Colony may have a special event or activity. This could be hikes, parties, visits, picnics, etc. |
