The Charity Walk for Lionsvilla took place on Sunday
morning May 28, 2000. The route took us through some
of the most scenic sights in the Howth peninsula
starting from Marine Hotel,
Sutton Cross. It ended with refreshments and light
mental exercises at the Marine Hotel afterwards. As
usual Jim will not be in a position to give 'exact'
accounts of what was collected until all supporters
and sponsors have been 'gentlemanly harassed'

A charity night is held annually in
Howth Yacht Club for the
Howth-Sutton Lions, who in turn
present a cheque to the Royal
National Lifeboat Association of
Ireland (RNLI). This year the
function was revamped under a new
format. This replaced the 'Oyster
Night' which itself was so
successful over the years in
creating valuable funds for the
Howth-Sutton Lions Club.
The welcome change was suggested by
'Himself' of King Sitric fame, who
organised his fellow Restauranteurs
of the
village
of Howth
to combine and provide a Buffet for
all
to enjoy. Each introduced food of
their own speciality which made the
night a unique and experiential
occasion for the guests.
Sponsored wine and beer was
also on tap.
The
night realised £11,500 for
Howth-Sutton Lions charities, which
exceeded the previous year by 75%.
Great credit to Michael Fitzpatrick
and 'his committee'.
