The results you’ve all been waiting for!

On The Border is the overall winner – on a tiebreak. He and Clean Shaven (the punter formerly known as Stubble Man) both finished on 132 points, but OTB predicted there would be 27 goals scored over the weekend, while Clean Shaven guessed 35 goals. The actual number scored was 29 – so OTB takes top spot.

Congratulations! And to claim your prize of two tickets to the League final (thanks again to the sponsors, Allianz), send your name and postal address to me at offtheball@eircom.net

Weekly winner was The Corner Back, who came storming with a late burst of 22 points, to move right up the rankings.

Full weekly scores were:

22 – The Corner Back

18 – Deiseone, Hurler Abroad, Clean Shaven/Stubble Man, The True Blue

16 – Butty Brennan, Aragorn, On The Border, Deise Og, Gunther, Yellabelly, Willie Clancy

14 – Shannonsider, The Brewery Horse, Jesper, Taoiseach, Givemtimber, Jawbreaker, John Deere6420 (no points for putting Laois to beat Derry, because predictions were only posted on Saturday evening)

12 – Pollard, Liam McCarthy, Balbec, The Blues, Scooby, Ciaran Carey’s Hurling Arm, Groundskeeperwillie

10 – debridgerule, Tomas de Burca

8 – Stonethrower

0 – Fitzy, Ed Case, Truth Told, Goodwillhunting, Rebel Yell, David Trimble, Beagle, Kenny Strawberry, Tickler, Rodge, Liamo, Clare Fan

I second that. Congrats OTB and thanks to Yella.

On 2nd thoughts, this showed up that the sum total of my knowledge of hurling is limited to correctly spelling it.

I'll have to have a 2nd think about thanking you Yella.

Hard Luck today.

I believe youse were robbed v. Kilkenny.

Wait until the championship.

New father duties unfortunately prevented me from putting my spake in this week, but well done On the Border, cheers Yella, jesus this altruistic streak must be terrible hard for you to bear.
Great display at the weekend by Wexford after all, looking a bit beter for the Championship.

well done OTB (and Clean Shaven) - very well deserved - first time I'd ever really bothered with a predictions comp and I must say I thought it was good craic - one thing I've learned is never to back Limerick (or Offaly for that matter) - you just can't trust them!

Finally Yellabelly, thanks for running the show these past couple of months. Hope you can make it an annual event if this wasn't too much trouble and that at the very least you were able to get a few tix from Allianz for Mon.

I know MGG but maybe Yella would be able to get a couple of nights in the Gresham or the Burlo to catch up on all the sleep he missed out on while totting up the weekly scores.......
