If this post was a wind up, all I can say is What goes around comes around. Seriously. Not entertaining at all. Whats this **** about a bank account number? You really think money means anything to someone as depressed as you describe. Shame.IP: Logged |

Having carefully read the original reply again, the only thing that jars is the soliciting of "donations". I don't get the impression that ED CASE is from the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum from his description of his home or family. So what's the deal with the money, ED? Are you thinking of jumping ship and diving off to the big lights of London? Is this all just an elaborate ruse? Is this the first chapter of your soon-to-be-published first novel? IP: Logged |

Hi Ed, You are one highly intelligent 25 year old chap, whatever your angle is. If you are as depressed as you try to convey, then I'm sure it will lift soon with the sunshine & hurling. Very easy to look at this world from your angle & make it sound real, but you being an intelligent chap must know that there are other ways to look at things. A bit like a game of chess really. If you are having us on, then I don't know what you are up to. Anybody having access to the internet at 2.pm. on May day shouldn't really be drawing the dole? Your username 'ed case' I suspect is short for 'Head Case', which you most certainly are not. You may well have a temporary problem with life & living but you do hold a good hand of cards. Now you gotta play them. You wont win any tricks in Paddy Powers or the pub. You won't even be dealt a hand in the bed, so get up & get out, use your intelligence to your advantage. If I've wasted my time on a chancer, so be it. I was tempted to post my email address here but thought better of it. I'm sure Matt can give it to you if you really want to talk to somebody. I am now giving Matt permission to give it to you. If you are a chancer, you fooled me? quote: Originally posted by ED CASE: For about 2 years my days have mostly consisted of sitting around doing nothing. Most days of the week I'm wondering if there's a reason to get up, sometimes I try to trick myself into believing there is. On rare occasions I've been known to lay in bed, drifting in and out of sub and semi-conciousness. Eventually, come 3 or 4 o'clock the pains in my back and neck become too great to bear and I'm forced to get up. So I go down stairs, I might have a brief confrontation with whatever family member has the misfortune to cross my path. I go in to watch the televion, breakfast (or dinner) is too much hassle. I may be incredibly lazy but I'm not fat, because I'm too lazy to cook. I don't eat with the family, we try to avoid eachother as much as possible and living in a big house helps, but they always make sure theres enough left. The highlight of my week is Thursday, when I get my dole. I get up early to go in town. You might see me in falling asleep in front of fire in the local, or maybe I'm waiting outside for the some other pub to open, don't want to give too much away. In any case come 6 o'clock I've just finished up in Paddy Powers, hopefully I haven't lost too much of my hard earned cash, perhaps I've even come out the better, but that's rarely the case. Then it's back in for a few more scoops to wash down whatever ****e I've just eaten, usually a enzo's, and to converse with slurred speech about some totally irrelevent crap with some poor old ******* who also has the misfortune of still being alive. Half the time I've nothing to say, and I'm not even listening to them. I don't mean to be rude but I can't help my thoughts from drifting. My attention returns just in time to be able to give the appropriate response, usually a nod in agreement or fake laugh, sometimes even a grunt. I rarely get it wrong, and when I do, I really don't care. When it's time to go home or I'm fairly well cut. I live at least 20 minutes walk from the town or 30 minutes drunk walk ( or 30 minute wank as I call it, and I've had a few). So that means half an hour of giving out to myself under my breath for being the worthless failure that I am, and when there's no-one around I give myself a few quick hard clatters to get the point accross. I arrive in the door hoping nobody is awake. Sometimes my mother is still up and when she sees me the way I am a tear is drawn to her eye. It is a very solemn moment with a hint sadness felt by both of us. I say goodnight as I walk up the stairs, searching my pockets as I go, hopefully I'll have enough for a pint the next day at least. Obviously, I don't have a girlfriend. The last proper relationship I had was with a homeless girl, I put her up in my bedroom and we got on grand. She was a runaway and when her parents found her I was lucky not to be locked away for underage sex, she told me she was 17 and that her parents were dead. I was 18 at the time she was 15. She explained to them how I had looked after her and they didn't take any legal action. Sometimes I wonder if a spell in prison would have sorted me out, probably not. I'd like to see her again though, but not like this. The only female contact I've had recently has been the kind you pay for, and in my case you go hungry and thirsty (drinkwise) for too. I usually satisfy my carnal desires by hand. So now the routine to my existance is quite basic and monotinous. Sometimes I wonder if I should end it all, but I know I never will. I'm only 25 and feel there may be light at the end of the tunnel. I sometimes jokingly think to myself that I should crawl into a grave and have some **** give us a few flakes of a shovel across the head to knock me out so I can then be buried alive. Sorry if I sound a touch morbid, but that is why I am writing this. I hope maybe someone can give me a few words of advice or if that's too much to ask maybe a small donation would be more convienient for ye....

I don't have any real friends, well not anymore. They abandoned me a year back. Perhaps ''abandoned'' is not the right word as it was, in a sense, a mutual decision. They didn't want to be seen with me and I said fair enough. I couldn't blame them either, as you can imagine, the deterioration in my mental state over recent years has been reflected in my appearance and my behaviour had been piss poor to say very least. I don't want to talk about the things I did, but believe me, I deserve what I got. Nowadays If I see them it is quite awkward, especially if eye contact is made. The usual reaction is for both parties to quickly look away. Sometimes I think back to the good ol' days, but it dosen't make me sad. As I said, I deserved what I got. Sometimes when my sister is asleep at night I sneak into her room, treading lightly to be sure she dose'nt wake (you can imagine the awkwardness and embarrassmaent of getting caught doing this), then I gently remove one her magazines. You'd be amazed at the wankability, for want of a better word, of some of those girly mags.

ED et al,This is not the forum to get the help you require. If you are serious about your plight, you need professional help! The Samo's are a good place to start with. If others have touched base with you personally offering help, all the better. I think it's time that this topic is closed, for the better of all parties involved. Deal?

Ed_Case your some spoofer. Talking about heading to the Waterford match in an earlier thread with all the lads in an 99 C reg Toyota. What's the point of this whole fabricated story although it seems authentic enough bar the pleas for cash. You talk in another thread about refugees in Ennis and the grants the govt give them while you saw the ball x off yourself. Good wind up Ed but in poor taste.IP: Logged |

Yeah seriously, its just in bad taste. It should be closed. I don't see the point of it. If its true or not, people can contact Ed privately. I realise he may have just been bored or decided to 'spin an ould yarn', but if you've known someone who has commited suicide because of depression (very similar to how Ed describes) its sickening! and the plea for 'donations' at the end leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. It's a strnnge post alright, but given how so many people have taken it seriously, it's certainly NOT humourous. It's served its purpose. Contact Ed privately now at this stage. Is there not someway to just close the post. Its shameful now. [This message has been edited by Uncle_Tom (edited 02 May 2003).] IP: Logged |

You and some others ability to get sucked in is the joke chief. How obvious was that mail for god sake and it was funny. Dont give me the high moral standpoint please buddy i.e. Aware/Concern whatever. Uncle Tom is a suitable name cause you are one. Clarehurlers has never been a forum for discussing depression (especially when its w ind up) and it will hardly begin to be one now so get over yourself. There was one thread last week which was relatively serious (De Pain) but this was interesting even if it was a mess also.

Yeah well Ttown Boy I just wish I was gifted with such great powers of perception - but I lived with a guy who tried to kill himself twice - depression and drink - and despite my skepticism I felt it is better to be taken for a ride than dismiss what could have been a genuine plea for help. Sick joke though!IP: Logged |

TTown boy you sad sack of ****. My "'ability' to get sucked in was the joke"? Is that what you think? You think I was 'sucked in'. I hate to disappoint you. The ruse was good, but not quite that good. In fact my awareness of the intended 'point of the joke' is what I am sour about. Unlike the likes of yourself who find depression funny and a good laugh; I will gladly take the high moral standpoint. Your the kind of person that would laugh at disability right? Sure why wouldn't you? Your too weak to take the moral high ground. People like you are the ones I feel really sorry for. Your too complacent and obtuse to have any idea how serious an issue depression is. A jokes well and good, but some topics are too sensitive to joke about. I didn't get 'sucked in' anywhere but am instead sickened that some people would make fun of the contributors who tried to offer a hand to Ed Case. Slag them off. ha ha ha sucked in. you idiots. ha ha. You are the idiot TTOWN. got it. Laugh away you clown, someday you may feel down, and then I'll post a joke about it, I'll ridicule how perhaps you will lie in bed trynig to find a reason to live. Trust me, it will help. You'll be laughing in no time. you ****ing tosser.

Are you blind as well as thick you braindead tool. The humour is in the fact that ED Case wrote (or copied and pasted) a piece that was so outlandish and blatantly not his own experience and a twerp like you to get hot and bothered about it. Depression isnt a funny subject, his story was so ridiculous it was, and made a change from Cooper Helmets especially with wanting to go to prison to sort himself out. Its when people like you wade in without cop on and then throw hissy fits and rattles fly out of the Pram thats whats funny. Im not repeating this a third time and i cant do brail on a pC so sod off.
