Lotto Mania continues to sweep the area as local punters strive to scoop the big Crotta Hurling Club Lotto Jackpot. The numbers drawn at Cronin’s bar on Monday night last were 7, 16, 21, 27, no jackpot winner. Lucky Dip prize winners who each receive €35 are - Frank O’Connor, Abbeydorney; Gerry Moloney, Kilflynn and Norma Shanahan. Water Shortage; Kerry Co. Council is seriously concerned at the low levels of water in the suppplies throughout the county. It is at its lowest level in many years due to the ongoing drought conditions. Shortages are inevitable if the current water usage and the dry weather continues. Customers are asked to please use water sparingly, to check for leaks or wastage in their supply systems, to avoid watering lawns, washing cars, etc and to expect curtailments on the supplies, particularly at night.

Congratulations to Garda Helena Carey, daughter of Tom and Noreen Carey, Baltovin, Abbeydorney who was awarded the Gary Sheehan Memorial Medal. The prize is awarded to the best all-round student garda. Garda Carey is the first female garda in Kerry to be awarded this prestigious medal. She was educated at Killahan National School and Colaiste Ide, Dingle. Garda Carey was among the 118 new gardai who were presented with Certificates at a ceremony at the Garda College, Templemore, on Thursday last. She will be stationed at Store Street Garda Station in Dublin.
