Abbeyfeale Golf Club will hold their AGM on Sunday 28th January. All are welcome.

Thomas O`Hanlon has secured his place as Golfer Of The Year at the club following some superb performances during the season, which included victories in the President`s Prize and Scratch Cup.

The A.G.M of Abbeyfeale Golf Society takes place in Julia Twomey`s bar on Wednesday 17th January at 9pm. All members and intending members are invited to attend.

ABBEYFEALE COURSING CLUB.

25th Feb; No joy for All The Twos at the Irish Cup in Tralee, as the Abbeyfeale dog was defeated in the first round when he ran unsighted. He fared little better in the Irish Plate in the afternoon when he was again eliminated in the first course. And, with the Waterloo Cup in England cancelled due to the foot and mouth epidemic, the coursing season is effectively over for this year. It was a case of "plenty of fun - but no mun!" Never mind. Roll on next year! Things can only get better.

20th Feb; All The Twos takes his chances at Clounanna this weekend and will face the favourite in his first course on Friday morning. The bookmakers seem to think that he will be eliminated at an early stage and they have him priced at a very generous 33/1 to win The Irish Cup. The odds are very tempting - but we counsel caution. It might be better to wait until after the first course. If he survives it - then we can do business! Full updates and betting trends will be posted here.

12th Feb; We may get our money back in Clounanna shortly, if they decide to run All The Twos there. Although well beaten in Clonmel, All The Twos is reported to be in fine fettle and is showing no ill-effects from his recent injury. He should be a decent price for the Irish Cup, so watch this space, but don`t back him unless we tell you to!

5th Feb; No joy for the Abbeyfeale Contingent at Clonmel this morning when All The Twos made his exit from the Derby, beaten by two lengths in the first round. Bookmakers breathed a sigh of relief as the local hopeful failed to live up to expectations, with the injury sustained in Newcastle West very obviously hindering his progress.

1st Feb; All The Twos has been drawn in the third quarter and will avoid many of the `big guns` in the early rounds. He is reported to be in fine fettle and should at least make it to the quarter final stages. Regional trial stake winner, Mick`s Magic, is favourite for the event at 4/1. There was a little bit of 25/1 available about All The Twos early in the week, which we quickly snapped up. He is now a steady 10/1 third favourite. (Spike is still laying 16/1. Get on the blower!) The exodus for Clonmel starts in earnest on Sunday evening. We will have all the big betting news. The `touches`, the `stings`, the `hard-luck stories` , and of course the massive poker schools which are a feature of Clonmel.

29th Jan; All The Twos, heads for the national coursing meeting in Clonmel next weekend to compete in the Boyle Bookmakers Irish Greyhound Derby. The draw for the event is being made tonight and we will have a preview tomorrow, plus a daily update from Clonmel with details of course news, betting, fashion trends, etc.

8th Jan; Local coursing dog, All The Twos, owned jointly by Jack O`Rourke and Matt O`Connor reached the final of the Munster Cup in Newcastelwest on Sunday, but had to be withdrawn due to injury. All The Twos won a trial stake in Glin earlier in the year and is one of the big fancies for the Minella Derby in Clonmel next month.

2nd Jan; The Abbeyfeale Coursing Meeting was abandoned yesterday (Monday) when it was discovered that a mystery virus had infected the hares. The meeting was originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 30th and 31st Dec. However, due to the recent snow, it was refixed for Monday and Tuesday, 1st and 2nd of January. The meeting commenced yesterday morning, but it became quickly apparent that all was not well with the hares. One round of the Dog and Bitch Trial Stakes was run off, before the decision was taken to suspend the meeting. Efforts will now be made to complete the two Trial Stakes at Galbally next week. It would appear that Corn na Feile, one of the richest and most prestigeous competition in the coursing calender, will not now be run. (More details to follow)
