Namibia

In June 2000 we loaded up the Land-Rover and headed for the Kaokoveld region of northwest Namibia. The highlights of this trip were undoubtedly the loop from Sesfontein out through Purros and Orupemba and back to the "main" road at Opuwo. Elephants in the open campsite at Purros, Himba and Herero people, giraffe, springbok and gemsbok, plus some challenging driving made for an unforgettable experience. We also visited the Etosha National Park, where we saw rhino. Other highlights included an unplanned 2 day stop in Luderitz, thanks to a burned exhaust valve on "Oscar", a wild night camped half way up Brukaros volcano, and of course the sand dunes at Sossusvlei. The digital camera had not been bought then, so here are some scanned photos.
