Trans World Expedition
September 1969 - September 1971
Background
At the end of September 1969 my late brother Richard and I set
out from England on a round-the-world trip in a Land-Rover. We travelled with
Alan Lance and "Chis" (Charles) Bythell, from Sidmouth in Devon.
In fact I was the only one to return to the UK, at the end of September 1971.
John Mitchell ("Mitch")
from Tasmania travelled with me from Penang to Kuwait, and my youngest
brother,
Chris ("BunduBroer"), joined me in Bombay. Alan and Chis stayed on
Australia, and I have lost touch with them now, and Richard was tragically
killed in a car accident in
West Australia in May 1972.
34 years on, thanks to modern technology in the form of a slide/negative scanner,
and the Internet, I am now finally inspired to share some of the pictures and
tales relating to this epic trip with anyone who is interested.
