CONVENTIONS FOR PROTECTION OF THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT
TO
WHICH
[Under Bunreacht na hEireann the ratification or accession to a convention does not confer rights or impose obligations on persons or other private entities; to do this the provisions of the convention must be enacted into domestic law and will take effect through the provisions of the implementing legislation, though in some cases the provisions of a convention are applied by making the text of the convention a schedule to the implementing instrument.

some cases the protocol amending a convention has replaced the convention in toto and in such a case
