Venus

Viewed by the naked eye, Venus is the brightest object in the sky after the Sun and the Moon. It orbits the Sun between Mercury and Earth, comming closer to Earth than any other planet. Venus is also close to Earth in size, with 95% of Earths diameter and 80% of its mass. Although it is twice as far from the Sun as Mercury, the surface of Venus is the hottest in the solar system. Its atmosphere is a dense layer of gases, mostly carbon dioxide, that traps the Sun's heat.
